Less Than Two Hours, Idham Azis Passed the DPR Commission III Fit and Proper Test

The new National Police Chief

NUSADAILY.COM – JAKARTA – Commission III of the DPR (People’s Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia) approved Kabareskrim Komjen Pol Idham Azis as the new National Police Chief replacing Tito Karnavian. This approval was carried out after a fit and proper test by the DPR Commission III which lasted less than 2 hours.

Idham Azis’ step is relatively short and smooth. After delivering the seven priority work programs, Idham Azis got questions from each faction. The session was completed. Then the suspension was continued to gather the views of the factions whether Idham suitable for the qualifications as National Police Chief or not.

However, in the 30 minute suspension session, Commission III finally approved Idham Azis as the National Police Chief by acclamation.

“All factions agreed, no need to do the faction’s view anymore. All factions decided, acclamation to approve brother Komjen Idham Aziz to become the Chief of the Indonesian National Police,” said Commission III Chairman Herman Herry when opening a suspension of the meeting at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (10/30) as reported by Kumparan.com.

Herman explained, after being agreed by acclamation, then Commission III would appoint Idham as the new National Police Chief. Then these results are brought to the plenary meeting which took place on Thursday (10/31).

“Which on this afternoon, we went straight to the first level of decision. This afternoon we also wrote directly to the head of DPR to be scheduled at the plenary meeting,” Herman said.

Idham Azis underwent a fit and proper test by DPR Commission III starting at 14:00 WIB, and ending at 15.48 WIB. During the session of vision and mission of the prospective National Police Chief, Idham was criticized with various kinds of law enforcement issues, ranging from acts of terrorism, relations with Muslims, handling demonstrations, to drug problems.

Previously, Commission III also met with Idham Azis’s family to explore his family background. (kumparan/li)
