The initiator of the Trisakti Tourism Award Wiryanti Sukamdani conveyed the intention of giving the award to encourage the progress of the Indonesian tourism industry. Because Indonesia is an equatorial pearl that we must manage and maintain as well as possible.
“We must not lull over abundant natural resources because Indonesian tourism is one of the spearheads of national economic growth,” Wiryanti said.
Through the Trisakti Tourism Awards, it is hoped that regional heads will be more motivated and work hard to develop their tourism destinations and industries. “We must move fast, tourism must be the driving force of foreign exchange and provide a ‘multiplayer effect’ that drives our economy higher,” she said.
Wiryanti is optimistic that tourism can also prosper the community, eradicate poverty, promote culture and preserve the natural environment.
Meanwhile, present at the event, the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia and Chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle DPP Megawati Soekarnoputri and a number of other officials, including Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Wishnutama Kusubandio, Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasona Laoly, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, and Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, I Gusti Ayu Bintang Darmawati.
The Chairman of the Trisakti Award Jury, Sapta Nirwandar, stated that the winners were obtained from more than 60 regencies / cities that registered as participants. He explained the winner of the 2019 Trisakti Award in the marine tourism category, first place in Raja Ampat Regency, West Papua, followed by Sumbawa Regency, NTB, and Belitung Regency, Babel.
The category of cultural and historical heritage tourism was won by Tabanan Regency, Bali, Southwest Sumba Regency, NTB, and Payakumbuh Regency, West Sumatra. The culinary and shopping tourism category was won by Semarang City, Central Java, Surakarta City, Central Java, and Medan City, North Sumatra .
The special award was won by the Siau Islands Tagulandang Regency in Biaro, North Sulawesi and South Sumatra Province.(aka/ant)
