Before Christmas, Three Balikpapan-Samarinda Toll Roads Will Be Opened

IMPERIUMDAILY.COM – SAMARINDA – Three Balikpapan – Samarinda toll sections will soon be inaugurated. It is planned that before the Christmas holidays in 2019, the toll road connecting Samboja – Samarinda will be inaugurated first because the development progress is now approaching 100 percent.

The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPT) has also announced that the Balikpapan-Samarinda Toll Road section 2-4 along 66 kilometers will be inaugurated before Christmas 2019.

“Yes, we are targeting before Christmas,” said Head of the PUPR Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT), Danang Parikesit, as reported by Kumparan.com.
He said, the progress of the construction of the Samboja-Samarinda toll road had reached 99.5 percent. At present, the process is just finalized before it is formalized.

Meanwhile, in total, this toll road section has 5 sections. For the construction of section I Balikpapan-Samboja 22.03 km and Balikpapan-Sepinggan Airport are still not completed because there are technical problems with the movement of the land so it needs to be further investigated.

He explained that the construction of section 1 used the East Kalimantan Provincial Regional Budget of Rp 1.5 trillion and the National Budget of Rp 271 billion. While section 5 is funded by the state budget which originates from Chinese loans amounting to Rp 848.55 billion.

For sections 2 to 4, which will be inaugurated first, the construction uses Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) funds, namely PT Jasa Marga Balikpapan-Samarinda (JMBS). Jasa Marga holds a 62.1 percent stake, while the rest is owned by Wijaya Karya to PTPP.

The road, which was built since November 2016, will cut the travel time between Balikpapan and Samarinda, from initially 3 hours to 1 hour. The plan, this toll road will be extended to the center of the new capital in East Kalimantan.

“The plan is in the stage of determining the stage. The project will also be prioritized to be included in the PSN so that land acquisition can be accelerated, “said PUPR Minister, Basuki Hadimuljono.(kum/top)
