Espanyol Coach Fired

IMPERIUMDAILY.COM – ESPANYOL – The defeat of Espanyol from Leganes 0-2 on Monday (12/23) in the morning finally took its toll. Espanyol coach Pablo Machin was immediately fired due to the defeat of the relegation-threatened Leganes team. The team is now bottom of La Liga.

Machin’s team were easily defeated by Leganes Sunday local time so that they are now five points below the safe zone. “Espanyol reports that Pablo Machin has been released from his responsibilities as coach of the men’s first team,” Espanyol announced as quoted by Reuters via Antara.

“The club took this decision as a result of the team’s performance and a clear desire to change the situation of this team in La Liga,” he said.

Last October Espanyol fired David Gallego, who was replaced by Machin, who only led the club for 10 league games. Even though he has brought Espanyol to the last 32 of the Europa League, Machin has only won one win in a La Liga match and instead swallowed seven defeats.(ant/wan)
