Preparation for the 2019 Operasi Lilin, Menkopolhukam: Security of All Sectors

IMPERIUMDAILY.COM – JAKARTA – Coordinating Minister for Political Law and Security (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD held a Cross Sectoral Coordination Meeting in the Field of Operations in 2019 in the framework of Preparation for the 2019 Operasi Lilin in the STIK/PTIK Auditorium, Kebayoran Baru, Friday, December 13, 2019.

The closed coordination meeting was attended by the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi, TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, National Police Chief Gen. Idham Azis, BMKG Head Prof. Dwikorita Karnawati, and Head of Basarnas Marsdya Bagus Bagus Puruhito.

After the meeting, Mahfud said, today’s meeting was a routine work visit. They discussed the matter of security ahead of Christmas and the New Year 2020.
“Today the focus is on the New Year and Christmas, to ensure the security and peace of society. And we are also preparing everything,” he said.

The former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) said, the security covers all sectors.

“I am sure that Christmas and the New Year 2020 can run well because of the readiness of all stakeholders, especially the military and police,” he said.

Meanwhile, in the context of securing the 2019 Operasi Lilin, the National Police will deploy 100,000 personnel. The 2019 Operasi Lilin itself will take place from December 23, 2019 to January 1, 2020.

Karo Penmas Police Public Relations Division Police Brigadier General Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono said, hundreds of thousands of personnel would spread from the Aceh region to Merauke.

“There are more than 100,000 for the personnel we have prepared from Aceh to Merauke,” Argo said.

Argo explained that each Polda had also collected data on information that had been submitted to the Assistant Chief of Police Operations.

“The data is used to map security priorities during the Christmas and New Year celebrations,” he said.

The former Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police added, the security priority was also to prevent the buildup of vehicles or traffic jams when going home.

“For example Java, Lampung, Banten, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Bali, NTT, Maluku, Papua and West Papua, the first security priority relates to candle operations,” he said.

In addition, according to Argo, his party has also prepared security in various places of worship, recreation and shopping during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

“The police also coordinate with local authorities regarding the security of the Christmas service, which will be held on December 24 or December 25. Of course, all levels of the police will communicate with the church, recorded its activities,” he said.

In the same place, TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto stated, the TNI would deploy 17,190 personnel to support the security of the 2019 Christmas and New Year 2020 celebrations in all parts of Indonesia.

“In safeguarding Christmas 2019 and New Year 2010, we can refer to the security of 2018,” he said.

According to Hadi, from last year’s security experience, each agency had known critical points in accordance with their respective fields of duty.
“I hope that each party can share information so that they can anticipate and support each other so that the activity can run well,” he said.

Hadi said, the two important moments, namely Christmas and New Year, would certainly involve large numbers of people and vehicle movements.
“It takes public services in every place and of course excellent security guarantees,” he said.

Hadi said, thus, all parties should be aware and prepare everything according to their respective fields of duty.

“Furthermore, each sector needs to coordinate with other agencies so that they can support, complement and exchange information,” he continued.
In addition, continued Hadi, it must be guided by the joint that security measures not only secure the community, but also secure officers stationed in the field.

“If anyone sees something suspicious, immediately notify others, especially related authorities,” said Hadi.

He stressed that the TNI was ready to provide assistance and support to the National Police regarding the security of Christmas and New Year.

“The TNI is ready to provide assistance and support, both personnel and defense equipment, according to the needs and capabilities of the units in each region for the successful celebration of Christmas 2019 and the New Year 2020,” he concluded.(dan)
