NUSADAILY.COM – JAKARTA – President Joko Widodo has appointed Rudiantara to be President Director of PT PLN (Persero).
Responding to this, Member of the House of Representatives Commission VII, Sartono Hutomo admitted that he did not mind if the former Minister of Communication and Information was already appointed to be the boss of PLN.
“Of course that is the authority of the GMS (General Meeting of Shareholders), to him of course we hope that there is new enthusiasm and new hope,” Sartono said when contacted, Monday 9 December 2019.
Nevertheless, the Democratic Party politician has three big notes which of course must be answered through performance by Rudiantara. First, according to Sartono there is an imbalance between electricity supply and electricity needs.
“The new PLN president director must have more precise steps in realizing this,” said Sartono.
Second, the problem faced by PLN is the problem of PLN’s income which is always minus so that it is always subsidized by the government. “The most immediate need to be prepared is how the financial security of PLN, moreover the preparation to welcome the absorption of 35,000 MW, as targeted by the Government’s Power Plant Development,” he said.
Finally, that there needs to be seriousness coupled with the concern for renewable energy, in the power sector. So that national electricity needs are more evenly distributed.
“Just make sure the cheaper the price of electricity tariffs will further encourage the pace of investment and economic growth even better,” concluded Sartono.
Previously, President Joko Widodo had appointed Rudiantara to be the President Director of PT PLN (Persero). Special Staff of the Ministry of BUMN, Arya Sinulingga confirmed the news. Rudiantara will fill the position of president director left by Sofyan Basir.

For information, the current position of PLN president director is indeed vacant. The main task of the president director of the state electricity company is currently held by the executor of the task.
The vacancy occurred after Sofyan Basir was named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in the corruption case of the construction of the Riau PLTU -1.
Before being confirmed as the Managing Director of PLN, Rudiantara was the Minister of Communication and Information. He held the position of minister during the Working Cabinet. Rudiantara also served as Deputy Director of PLN. (dan)
