Proven Owner of Smuggled Goods, Garuda Indonesia Managing Director Fired by Erick Thohir

IMPERIUMDAILY.COM – JAKARTA – Garuda Indonesia Director, I Gusti Ngurah Askhara alias Ari Askhara was finally removed by the Minister of BUMN, Erick Thohir. This was after Ari Askhara was proven to be the owner of Harley Davidson who was smuggled through a Garuda Indonesia flight that flew from France’s Touluse to Soekarno Hatta Airport, November 17.

“I dismissed the President Director of Garuda. But it does not stop there, we will continue to see more persons involved,” said Erick Thohir in a press conference at the Ministry of Finance, Thursday (5/12).

Erick Thohir made the decision based on the results of an audit conducted by the audit committee and the report of the Garuda Indonesia Board of Commissioners.

“The Harley Davidson motorbike is owned by Brother AA,” said Erick.
AA is the name of the initial Garuda Managing Director I Gusti Ngurah Askhara or Ari Askhara. He is also included in the list of Airbus A330-900 Neo VIP passengers.

Erick’s explanation also denied Garuda’s previous information that the Harley parts belonged to VIP passengers with the initials SAW.

Previously, smuggling of luxury goods shocked the news in the country after the Soekarno Hatta Airport Customs Service found and secured the smuggled goods. VIP Garuda Indonesia passengers smuggled in 2 units of Brompton folding bikes and Harley Davidson parts. After being assembled, the parts turned out to be Harley Davidson’s luxury motorcycle.

The illegal goods were smuggled in the new Garuda Indonesia Airbus A330-900 neo aircraft. The brand-new aircraft owned by Garuda Indonesia flew from the Airbus Delivery Center in Toulouse, France to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta), Tangerang Indonesia.(kum/top)
